Were you running version 1.04 or 1.05? If you're at 1.04, please restart the Launcher to receive an update, which may fix this issue. |

Does running the Repair Tools help with this? |

Are you running the Launcher from a path which contains a hyphen? If so, the work-around is to either remove the hyphen, or remove the .patch file in the directory (assuming you've successfully patched to the latest TQ version). This has been fixed in 1.06, which is currently live on SISI. Hope that helps . |

Aethlyn wrote:There might be something wrong with the launcher's self-update procedure. My launcher version was stuck at 1.04. Repair.exe didn't redownload anything (as did the launcher itself)
I deleted the launcher sub folder, ran repair.exe again, and now the launcher updated itself to 1.05. This is very strange!
Edit: This still didn't fix the clickable links. They open for me in a blank IE window with no page content, empty address bar and no visible loading progress or anything (the window is just stuck but I'm able to close it).
Unfortunately the IE problem you mention is a known issue, see https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=80365&find=unread. We'll try to get to this once we've sorted out the update problems that people are having. |

Patching works fine for both clients; but it is not possible to configure the launcher on my second (just copy and paste) EVE. I want, that the launcher closes itself after starting EVE. With the regular installation it works fine but when I click at the "Setup" button of the launcher, nothing happens. Strange. - Browsing my saved personal fittings is only possible if I click twice the button. But all fittings are gone / deleted. - Why the hell did you rename my shield hardeners? Who is that id!ot who wants to rename all my stuff?
Do you have a hyphen in the pathname of your second copy? If the path name contains a hyphen and the directory contains a .patch file, the Settings Menu will not open. The work-around is to change one or the other (ie remove the patch or remove the hyphen). This has been fixed in version 1.06 of the Launcher. |

Done this 5 times now.
Where can I manually download the .patch file from and import it? Would be the easiest option but on the website there is no longer a download option for patches page, says I HAVE TO use the launcher.
The .patch file is essentially a delta of your local client and a "master" on our servers. As such it's essentially install-specific. If you're having trouble with the Launcher, we'd recommend that you run it as administrator, or try using the Repair Tool. Hope that helps. |

We're aware of the transient permissions errors that users are receiving while attempting to patch. This is something that we're actively looking into, and will deploy a fix as soon as one is available. Thanks for your patience. |

In the meantime, we suggest you try running the "Eve Online Launcher" shortcut as administrator (through right-click). If that doesn't work, try to use repair.exe to update your client. Dear Dev Just followed your suggestion and both the shortcut and the repair.exe still didn't work and popped the same message, apparently these files (launcher.exe and repair.exe) wont be able to patch other files in the same directory while their processes are active. You can run the Launcher shortcut with /forceupdate flag. That said, there are some permissions issues in the wild with 1.05, so this may not fix things. The definitive fallback should be the Repair Tool. |

Thanks for the info regarding the Vista install process. The Launcher menu bug you mention is likely due to a hyphen in the path of your client directory. Removing the hyphen or removing the .patch file in the folder should fix this issue (it's fixed in 1.06, which is currently on SISI). |

Dito here. i'm downloading right now and it is taking ages. Or is the patch huge? I can't tell because it is not showing how much Mb's it is downloading on the launcher. No error messages yet though, at least thats something :>
This is likely due to the fact that we checksum your client directory in order to know what data to offer you in a patch. This information is cached after the first run, so subsequent patches should be faster. |

you have successfully created patchception. I had to DL a patch to make the launcher work, ok fine, that was expected, then the launcher DL another larger patch. yet again OK must be that other 3.5 MB patch was just the launcher.so after 150MB patch DL and the thing saying i could then launch the game i click launch.. loe and behold another small patch that required the game to restart. So yea thanks for fixing that what is not broken -.-
And this was only on my laptop.........
I come home to do the same lame lolupdate thinking well its not the worst that could happen just another thing in life that was good and now made bad but still tolerable. But alas i found that my desktop would not be so lucky...
Downloaded launcher patch, worked fine.. launcher launched and started DL its big patch. then i got the exception error same as the others and no more install for me.. decided to uninstall and start fresh, DL the installer and NOPE corrupt installer.... Clicked the download manually link.. WTF is this have to DL 3 separate files and run from there? still working on this....
I work with software development and testing and just have to wonder if you even tested this on any kind of various platforms or just on whoever happened to have a computer there that day. so yea.. hate the launcher, was not needed at all, other system was working fine and i didnt need all this buddy program promotes and BUY PLEX NOW stuff. i know its there i knew its there and its not like its something you need reminded of -.-
Also why the new names for things? what was it doing before that caused a undesirable effect?
Why is my overview no longer working properly and sticking?
Why when i alt tab from one client to the next the next things i click on are looked at until i press tab again?
NOW FOR THE THINGS THAT WENT OK
the launcher can be avoided if there are no patches (once i can get it to run.) Noob ships look cool (why wasent this time spent on my overview?)
Overall conclusions? I Am Dissapoint ;(
Sorry for the inconvenience, we're working to fix this now. |

Just to update everyone on the situation:
We're aware of the permissions issues plaguing some of our users. We're actively working on a fix for this.
In the mean-time, please do the following: 1. Restart your computer 2. Run the Repair Tool without starting any other EVE-related process (ie Client, Launcher, etc) beforehand. 3. Navigate to EVE/bin/ and run ExeFile.exe directly. 4. Please reply to this thread confirming this work around, if it is, in fact, successful.
A few caveats about this approach. If you encounter permission errors on files during the Repair process, they may not have been completely updated to their latest versions. Therefore, you may not be running a completely sane client, but you might be able to get in-game.
Thank you for bearing with us while we sort these issues out. |

This is almost certainly due to the Launcher update corrupting the Launcher itself, which is symptomatic of the data corruption you're seeing. This, along with the permission issues that people have been having, is at the top of our list to fix ASAP.

I no longer have a working EVE client as do many of your subscribers... If I were in your management I would have head's on spit's and use them for target practise!!! I say you give everyone a "We are sorry" present for you incompetence and lack of management.
/rant This is almost certainly due to the Launcher update corrupting the Launcher itself, which is symptomatic of the data corruption you're seeing. This, along with the permission issues that people have been having, is at the top of our list to fix ASAP. So I just have to sit here and play other games while you sort out your error... Wait a minute... I paid for this game... I want compensation.... After all your server logs show an error on your side not mine... Waiting to be compensated now
Regard data corruption, please check the following thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=933164#post933164 |

Tried all the steps suggested, even uninstalling the game, and now I can't reinstall the game. "error while downloading installer payload".
What am I doing wrong? And what do I try next? I also got this error. A link to the manual download page is provided by the installer when it fails. You have to download the Executable, Payload 1, and Payload 2 and put them all in the same folder, then run the executable. The folder you put these 3 things in does not have to be the folder you intend to install EVE to (and probably, CANNOT be the same folder).
Correct, the .7z payloads just need to be in the same location as the .exe. |

The problem once again lies in win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt. When it calls ClientUpdate: BuildNumberInfoFile: The value it is receieving back is the value for the old patch, where as its supposed to be the new patch. If you change the URL it calls with the same file, only with the right information on a seperate server and still have the .patch file for 350962 to 351477, you can fool your launcher into needing an update. The update process will fail, but the 'import' tool will work and you can import the .patch file to get your client up and running.
Well, I couldnt locate the win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt file, but I did import the 350962 to 351477 patch file again, which forced the Launcher to reverse the reversion (lol) back to 351477. But then it also updated itself to v1.11. The client launched successfully after both actions, so not sure which was the one that solved it. In any case, thanks for the tip. Just keeping my fingers crossed that there's no Day 5 of my problems
We've include a fix in version 1.11 of the Launcher which should force to request non-cached versions of the info files in question. Please let us know if you encounter this issue again. Thanks! |
